The body of a Bangladeshi citizen killed in a mob attack in India’s Meghalaya has been handed over to police through coordination between the BSF and BGB. The deceased, Md. Akram Hossain (32), was from Sherpur’s Bankakura village. On August 10, locals in Meghalaya’s Khasi Hills alleged he was involved in a kidnapping attempt after crossing the border. He was severely beaten and later died in hospital. Akram’s brother, Sheikh Farid, expressed gratitude to BSF, BGB, and Bangladeshi police for ensuring the repatriation but called for urgent measures to prevent such tragedies in the future. Police confirmed that the handover followed legal procedures.
