Interior Adviser Jahangir Alam has stated that police will no longer be allowed to possess lethal weapons, and those currently in possession must return them. The decision came during a meeting of the National Law and Order Advisory Council. He also revealed that a five-member committee has been formed to restructure the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB). Ahead of Eid, security forces are actively working to prevent extortion and street crimes. Jahangir urged garment factory owners to ensure workers receive their wages and bonuses before the holiday. He also noted that most people pushed back into the country by Indian border guards are indeed Bangladeshi nationals.
