BNP candidate and central Jubo Dal general secretary Mohammad Nurul Islam Nayan has been elected as a Member of Parliament from Bhola-4 (Charfassion and Monpura) constituency in the 13th National Parliamentary Election. According to unofficial results, he secured 189,351 votes under the paddy sheaf symbol, defeating his nearest rival, Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Principal Maulana Mostafa Kamal, who received 81,437 votes. Nayan won by a margin of 107,914 votes. The constituency had a total of 502,008 registered voters, with a voter turnout of 60.48 percent. Voting took place on Thursday along with the rest of the country.
Following his victory, residents of Charfassion and Monpura, along with BNP supporters and people from various professions, greeted Nayan with flowers to celebrate his success. Former general secretary of Charfassion Municipality BNP, Khairul Islam Sohel, said that the people of Charfassion and Monpura had given Nayan the opportunity to represent them in the national parliament and expressed hope that he would be appointed as a minister.
