Three members of the same family, including a child, died from electrocution in Chapainawabganj on Tuesday morning. The incident occurred around 7 a.m. in the Barghoria-Badurtala area of Sadar upazila. The deceased were identified as Hasina Begum, wife of Mohammad Bhikhu of Badurtala, her niece Asha Khatun, and Asha’s daughter Mim, a sixth-grade student at LBC Ideal Girls High School. The information was confirmed by the local police and union parishad chairman.

According to Barghoria Union Parishad Chairman Harunur Rashid, a metal ladder at their home had become electrified after getting wet in the rain. Asha Khatun and her daughter Mim were electrocuted while climbing the ladder, and Hasina Begum was fatally shocked while trying to rescue them. Police from Sadar Model Station prepared inquest reports for all three bodies and stated that legal procedures would follow.

Authorities have not yet provided further details about the investigation or any safety measures to prevent similar incidents.
