Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has declared that Tehran will not begin discussions on a final agreement if the United States continues issuing threats. Citing Article 13 of the memorandum of understanding signed with Washington, Araghchi made the statement in a post on social media platform X. He noted that millions of proud Iranians were gathering for the funeral of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and emphasized that neither the people nor Iran’s armed forces would be intimidated by threats. Addressing the United States, he urged Washington to uphold the value of its signature.

Araghchi’s remarks came in response to comments by US President Donald Trump, who said that the United States would either reach a deal with Iran or “finish unfinished business.” Speaking to reporters at the Oval Office, Trump added that the US could destroy Iran’s bridges and cut off its fuel supply within an hour, asserting that Iran currently had no money and that Washington had not given it any.

The exchange underscores heightened tensions between Tehran and Washington, with both sides invoking past agreements and warning of consequences if threats persist.
