Police in Khulna arrested a local Labour Party leader and his associate for alleged misconduct with officers at Sonadanga Model Police Station. The incident occurred when the two attempted to secure the release of two individuals detained in a drug case. Police stated that the arrested leader, identified as Mostafa Sheikh Dulal, secretary of the party’s Ward 18 unit, and his associate Shariful Islam were intoxicated at the time. Both were later admitted to Khulna Medical College Hospital for treatment.

According to police, Dulal and his group arrived at the station around 12:45 a.m. and tried to meet the detainees. When officers refused, Dulal allegedly requested Sub-Inspector Nadim Mahmud to release them, but after being told the suspects would be sent to court, he and Shariful verbally abused the officers. Police then detained both men for disorderly conduct.

Following the arrest, the Khulna city Labour Party expelled Dulal from the organization. The city unit president said the decision followed party policy that no one involved in criminal activity would be spared.
