Zakat Foundation of America distributed food assistance to 200 selected extremely poor and vulnerable families across six unions in Gangachara upazila of Rangpur. Each family received 60 kilograms of rice and five litres of cooking oil at a distribution programme held Monday afternoon at the Gangachara Upazila Multipurpose Auditorium.

Rangpur-1 constituency member of parliament Raihan Siraji addressed the event online as chief guest. Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Gangachara upazila Nayeb-e-Amir Md. Nayebuzzaman attended as special guest. Enamul Haque, country director of Zakat Foundation of America’s Bangladesh office, chaired the programme.

The event began with recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by a welcome address from the foundation’s programme manager Muhammad Azim Uddin. Those present included upazila Jamaat publicity secretary Ashraful Alam, project officer Faisal Mondol, assistant project officer Abdur Razzak and others concerned.
