District Detective Branch officers and Goalanda Ghat police arrested three people with 20 grams of heroin in a joint operation in North Daulatdia Porabhita, Goalanda, Rajbari. The raid was conducted at about 9:30pm on the night of August 3 following a tip-off, according to police sources. Among those arrested was Roji Begum, who is accused in 12 drug cases.

The other detainees were Nishi Akter and Akher Ali. Roji Begum, 50, is the wife of Arif Kazi of North Daulatdia Porabhita. Nishi Akter, 42, is the daughter of the late Ayub Fakir from the same area, while Akher Ali, 32, is the son of Moslem Ali Molla of Daulatdia Bazar. Police said heroin was recovered from the three during the operation.

In a press release sent on August 4, Goalanda Ghat police station Officer-in-Charge Md Shafiqul Islam confirmed the arrests. He said a case under the Narcotics Control Act was filed against the detainees, who were sent to jail through a Rajbari court that afternoon. Police said Roji Begum had long been involved in drug trading and had previously been arrested with drugs.
