Police in Dinajpur arrested Mujibur Rahman Mujib, general secretary of the district Krishak Dal, over allegations that he physically assaulted CID officer Md Nawabur Rahman at Kotwali police station. He was arrested around 11 pm on Sunday night, according to the report. Mujib is the son of Sheikh Ismail of the Balubadanga area in Dinajpur municipality.

A case was filed at Kotwali police station by Nawabur Rahman on Sunday night, naming two unidentified people as accused. The complaint says the CID officer went to the station to collect documents for an investigation. After collecting them, a person asked about the officer-in-charge's whereabouts. Nawabur identified himself as police personnel and said he did not know where the OC was.

The complaint alleges that the person used abusive language and that Mujib later slapped the CID officer on the cheek. Police personnel present tried to restrain the accused. The complaint also alleges threats and abusive, defamatory remarks after witnesses identified the victim as a CID officer. Kotwali police station OC Mohammad Nur Nabi said Mujib had been sent to court.
