The National Citizens Party (NCP) has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Professor Abul Kasem Fazlul Huq, a distinguished intellectual, renowned thinker, and former professor of the Department of Bangla at the University of Dhaka. In a condolence message issued on July 6, 2026, the party said the nation has lost a fearless intellectual, principled teacher, and true patriot. The NCP prayed for the salvation of his departed soul and extended sympathy to his bereaved family, relatives, and admirers.

The statement described Professor Huq as a unique figure in Bangladesh’s intellectual sphere, known for his foresight and integrity. It recalled his clear understanding of the 2024 July mass uprising and his open support for the spontaneous movement of students and citizens. The NCP noted that his passing marks an irreplaceable loss for the country’s pursuit of free thought and rights.

The party added that his uncompromising voice and writings against injustice and in favor of the oppressed would continue to inspire future generations, honoring his ideals and social consciousness with deep respect.
