Indian High Commissioner to Dhaka Dinesh Trivedi said India wants to further strengthen its friendship with Bangladesh. He made the remarks at an event on Saturday morning marking India’s 80th Independence Day. Trivedi said the shared aspirations of the two countries’ people and their mutual connections are the real lifeblood of their enduring friendship.

The high commissioner said the Bangladesh-India partnership is advancing in different areas. He said there is scope to further develop the countries’ multifaceted relationship, including trade and culture. He also identified broad opportunities for India and Bangladesh to work together in the renewable energy sector.

The event included the hoisting of the national flag, followed by a collective rendition of India’s national anthem. Officials and employees of the Indian High Commission, Indian citizens living in Dhaka, and invited guests attended. Trivedi’s remarks highlighted people-to-people links and shared aspirations as key foundations for strengthening bilateral ties.
