Chhatra Dal distributed financial assistance and gift items to families of people described as martyrs of the mass uprising in Lakshmipur on Wednesday. The assistance was provided on behalf of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman as part of a month-long July programme announced by the central Chhatra Dal parliament. Leaders visited the homes of the families of Sabbir, Bijoy and others to deliver the gifts.
A special prayer and munajat were held for the forgiveness of those killed in the July-August mass uprising and for the speedy recovery of those injured. Those present included central vice-president Manjurur Alam Riyad, district convener Abul Barakat Saurav and member secretary Hasibur Rahman Abhi, along with leaders from several local units.
Riyad said BNP does not forget people who work for the country, referring to those injured and killed during the movement. He said the gifts had been sent for the families of the martyrs and were being delivered by Chhatra Dal. He added that BNP would remain beside martyr families.
