A Cumilla court has denied bail to Shibir central leader Jisan, who was arrested in a case involving allegations of rape and forced abortion. After two hours of dramatic developments, he was brought from Cumilla Medical College Hospital to the Judicial Magistrate Amli Court-3 on Tuesday afternoon. Judge Taiyeb Uddin Ahmed rejected his bail plea and ordered that he be sent to jail.

Earlier, controversy arose over whether Jisan was medically fit to appear in court. To resolve the issue, the hospital authorities formed a four-member medical board, which conducted several tests and declared him healthy. Following the board’s report, Jisan was discharged from the hospital on Tuesday.

Defense lawyer Advocate Monir Hossain Patwari told reporters that the police did not follow proper procedures in bringing the accused to court, alleging that the transfer process involved unnecessary drama. Despite their bail application, the court ordered Jisan’s imprisonment.
