Police in Barishal have arrested two individuals, including Mostafizur Rahman Litu, accused of assaulting Abdul Aziz Hawlader, Managing Director of Agrani Housing, and coercing him to sign two checks and several stamps. The incident occurred on June 27 at Aziz’s office on Sadar Road and became public after CCTV footage went viral on social media. Following a court case, police detained Litu and his associate Abul Kalam Azad, while efforts to arrest others continue.
According to sources, Litu was formerly a director of Agrani Housing and had previously settled his dues two years ago. However, after the BNP came to power, he allegedly renewed demands for money from Aziz. The Barishal district and city units of Jubo Dal later held a press conference denying that Litu is affiliated with their organization, stating he holds no position in any committee.
Litu claimed the dispute stemmed from unpaid business transactions and alleged that Aziz’s staff assaulted him before the confrontation. The court has ordered police to investigate and submit a report on the case.
