Arifullah Jelin, a 26-year-old assistant security officer at Sylhet Osmani International Airport under the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh, has been missing since the evening of July 8, 2026. He was last seen leaving his residential quarters near the airport, and his phone has remained switched off since then. A general diary was filed on July 9 by a colleague at the Sylhet Airport Police Station, with Sub-Inspector Arjun Chowdhury assigned to investigate.

Police confirmed that Jelin did not return to work after his leave and that his last known location was near the airport area. His family, residents of Thakurgaon, reported that he did not return home either. Relatives have appealed for information and said they were defrauded by scammers claiming to know his whereabouts. Airport Director Hafiz Ahmed stated that it remains unclear whether Jelin went missing voluntarily or due to other causes, and investigations are ongoing.

Sylhet Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner (North) Mohammad Saiful Islam said all possible motives, including abduction or voluntary disappearance, are being examined. Nationwide alerts have been issued, and investigators are maintaining contact with the family.
