Police have arrested Shefayetul Islam Imran, a leader of the banned Chhatra League’s Banshkhali unit in Chattogram, for issuing a death threat against interim government Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus during a Facebook Live broadcast. Imran was detained early Wednesday, November 12, in a raid at the Cox’s Bazar bus terminal area and later sent to jail by court order. According to police, a video of the threat went viral in July, after which Imran went into hiding. He had reportedly been spreading provocative content on social media and recently led a flash procession of the banned student group. Law enforcement conducted operations across several districts before capturing him. Authorities stated that he faces charges related to both the threat and his involvement in the banned organization’s activities.
