Detective Branch (DB) police in Barishal arrested four alleged members of a teenage gang, including its reported leader, during a special operation on Monday, July 6, 2026. The arrests took place near Jagadish Saraswat Girls’ Secondary School on Kalibari Road following complaints of harassment and disorderly behavior in the area.

The detainees were identified as Hasan Mahmud Khan, Abdullah Al Tamim, Pratim Acharya, and Hridoy Das, all residents of the Kalibari Road area. According to local complaints, the group had been involved in harassment, drug trading, theft, and intimidation. Sub-Inspector Mohammad Shahinur Rahman stated that the operation was launched after reports that several youths were using obscene language toward students and guardians near the school. The suspects were later handed over to Kotwali Model Police Station for legal action.

Local residents expressed relief following the arrests and urged law enforcement agencies to continue such operations to curb teenage gang activities in the city.
