The bodies of nine of the 16 Bangladeshi nationals killed in a fire at a sofa-making factory in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, are scheduled to arrive in Bangladesh on Thursday, August 27. The Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment provided the update on Wednesday, August 26. The bodies are expected to reach Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 4pm on Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight BG 340.

The nine victims were identified through fingerprints. They are Md Farid, Md Rubel Pramanik, Md Sohel Rana, Md Kalimuddin, Md Mohan Ali, Md Sumon Ali and Abdul Jalil Sardar from Naogaon; Rabiul Islam from Natore; and Md Shyamal Uddin Majhi from Rajshahi.

The bodies will be handed over to the victims’ family members at the airport cargo gate. The fire occurred on August 9 at a sofa-making factory in Riyadh, where 16 Bangladeshi nationals died.
