General Muhammad Ataul Gani Osmani, a hero of World War II and Bangladesh’s Liberation War, is at the center of controversy as efforts to erase his legacy have surfaced. There are allegations of conspiracy to strip him of his titles, and crucial documents, diaries, and even his personal suitcase have mysteriously disappeared. One of his close associates, Kazi Golam Mostafa, called it an attempt to distort and obscure history. Various organizations observed his 41st death anniversary through prayers and memorials.
