The National Citizens Party (NCP) has announced a mass rally demanding the banning of the Awami League and the execution of the death sentence handed to former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The rally is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. on Monday, November 17, from the party’s temporary central office in Banglamotor, Dhaka. NCP’s central leaders are expected to attend the event, organized by the party’s Dhaka Metropolitan unit. The announcement follows the International Crimes Tribunal’s verdict earlier in the day, sentencing Sheikh Hasina and former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal to death for crimes against humanity committed during the July uprising. The tribunal, chaired by Justice Md Golam Murtuza Majumdar, declared that the charges against Hasina and two other defendants were proven beyond doubt. The verdict has sparked strong political reactions across Bangladesh.
