A local BNP activist named Md. Palash, aged 34, was hacked to death in Dhaka’s Sabujbagh area on Tuesday night. The incident occurred around 8 p.m. near a grocery shop adjacent to a water pump in the Rajarbagh Bazar area. Palash, originally from Sonapur village in Lakshmipur’s Raipur upazila, had been living with his family in Madartek, Sabujbagh. Though he previously worked as a private car driver, he had recently stopped that job.

According to a neighbor named Hira, a group of local assailants, including individuals identified as Royal, Sabuj, and Nayeem, attacked Palash due to previous enmity. They reportedly used sharp weapons, severing his wrists and inflicting severe injuries to his chest and head before fleeing. Neighbors took him to Mugda Medical College Hospital and later to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Dhaka Medical College Hospital police outpost in-charge Inspector Md. Faruk confirmed that the body was sent for autopsy and that Sabujbagh police were informed of the incident.
