BNP leader Mirza Abbas questioned the sudden political activities at Shahbagh, saying, “Why are NCP activists allowed to hold rallies in Shahbagh — a place the government itself closed down?” He criticized the government for allegedly staging the events and asked, “Who exactly is demanding a ban on the Awami League, and who is stopping it?” He also ridiculed claims that BNP is helping rehabilitate the ruling party, adding, “BNP activists haven’t slept at home in 17 years.” Abbas further raised concerns about VIP movements and alleged a form of colonial oppression within the country, asking rhetorically, “Why can’t we freely visit places like Saint Martin’s or Sajek?”
