Residents of Doalipara village in Alampur Union, Taraganj upazila of Rangpur, have begun repairing a collapsed bridge approach road without waiting for government action. According to a report published on July 31, villagers started the work on Wednesday using collected donations and volunteer labor. They brought rods, cement, sand and other construction materials to fill the damaged section with soil and begin repairs.

Several days of continuous rain and strong water currents caused part of the road, located beside the Rangpur-Dinajpur highway, to collapse. The damage left thousands of people in Doalipara and nearby villages facing severe hardship. With no alternative road available, students, farmers, traders, employees and patients had been forced to travel daily at risk. The collapse had previously been reported by Amar Desh and other media outlets.

On-site observations showed villagers of all ages, from young people to elders, taking part in the repair effort. Some supplied construction materials, others provided labor, and others contributed money. Through the collective initiative, residents have filled the damaged area with soil and worked to strengthen the bridge connection. They hope completion of the work will ease the long-running travel difficulties.
