The Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) held a press conference on February 14, 2026, protesting nationwide attacks, vandalism, and threats against opposition activists, dissenting voters, and families of university students following the recent election. DUCSU leaders described the post-election violence as alarming and demanded immediate and effective measures to restore order.

At the event held in front of the DUCSU building, General Secretary S M Farhad alleged that two types of violence were occurring: attacks on Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) members in some areas, and assaults on Jamaat-e-Islami and National Citizens Party (NCP) supporters where BNP candidates had won. He criticized both government and opposition leaders for failing to act responsibly and noted the absence of clear statements from top political figures or effective law enforcement responses.

DUCSU Vice President Sadiq Kayem reported that at least three people were killed and over a hundred incidents of violence occurred within 24 hours after the election. He urged authorities to ensure citizens’ safety and bring perpetrators to justice, warning that continued attacks could prompt student-led movements.
