A ticket examiner named Suman has been temporarily suspended following allegations of assaulting Rajshahi University student Furkan Uddin on a train. Authorities announced the suspension along with the formation of two investigation committees and four other key decisions. After the administration accepted the students’ four-point demands, the eight-hour railway blockade was lifted around 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, restoring train services between Rajshahi and the rest of the country.

Earlier that morning, Rajshahi University students had blocked railway tracks demanding punishment for the accused and a fair investigation, halting train operations and causing significant passenger suffering. An emergency meeting at the Divisional Commissioner’s office, attended by railway officials, university representatives, and local administrators, led to the decisions.

The committees will separately investigate internal railway issues and conduct a neutral inquiry involving the Additional District Magistrate, railway security, and university representatives. The victim will receive treatment at a railway hospital or Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. Authorities also decided to resume late-night train stops at the university station and will review progress on August 6.
