Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar has strongly condemned the killing of party leader Samrat Hossain Bappa in Dupchanchia and demanded exemplary punishment for those responsible. In a statement issued to the media on Sunday, he said that on June 25, armed assailants allegedly hired by BNP leader Abdul Karim Akand attacked Rafik Akand and his family in Velurchak village over a land dispute. When Bappa tried to protect his father, he was fatally struck on the head, and his elderly mother, Josna Begum, was also injured. After remaining unconscious in a Dhaka hospital, Bappa died on July 4.

Golam Parwar stated that no political identity or social status should shield criminals from justice. He welcomed the arrest of Abdul Karim Akand and his wife but urged authorities to apprehend all other named and unnamed attackers mentioned in the case. He also prayed for the deceased’s soul and expressed condolences to his bereaved family and colleagues.

The statement called on law enforcement to ensure swift arrests and exemplary punishment for all involved in the killing.
