West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has congratulated Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and its chairman Tarique Rahman on their historic victory in Bangladesh’s 13th national parliamentary election. In a post on social media platform X, she addressed Rahman as 'brother' and extended greetings to the people of Bangladesh, wishing them well and offering early Ramadan greetings.

Banerjee expressed hope that the longstanding friendly relations between Bangladesh and India would continue. Her message followed a similar congratulatory note from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who also used X to convey his warm wishes to Tarique Rahman for leading the BNP to victory. Modi described the result as a reflection of the trust of the Bangladeshi people.

The congratulatory messages from both Indian leaders highlight regional attention to Bangladesh’s electoral outcome and signal continued diplomatic goodwill between the neighboring countries.
