Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar said implementing a memorandum of understanding “letter and spirit” is the only path to progress during a meeting with US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker in Islamabad. The memorandum, signed in June, is due to expire next Sunday, according to the report published on August 14, 2026.

In a statement posted on X, Dar said the meeting covered bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and the United States as well as recent regional developments. His office said he welcomed positive progress in relations between the two countries.

Dar also stressed the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in establishing lasting peace. Baker praised Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting regional peace and stability, according to the deputy prime minister’s office.
