Switzerland defeated Bosnia and Herzegovina 4-1 in a World Cup group-stage match on June 19, 2026. The game remained goalless until the 70th minute, but substitute midfielder Yohan Manzambi changed the course of the match after entering in the 71st minute. He scored twice, while Ruben Vargas and captain Granit Xhaka added one goal each. Bosnia, reduced to ten men after Tarik Muharemovic received a red card in the 80th minute, managed a consolation goal through Ermin Mahmic.

The first half was cautious, with both teams focusing on midfield battles and committing frequent fouls. Each side managed only one shot on target, easily handled by the goalkeepers. The breakthrough came when Manzambi’s volley opened the scoring, followed by Vargas doubling the lead and Xhaka sealing the result from a penalty in stoppage time.

With this commanding win, Switzerland strengthened its position in the group stage, while Bosnia’s hopes of reaching the knockout round remain alive despite the defeat.
