Five Bangladeshi nationals were injured in a major fire that broke out at the ‘Flourish Stay’ hotel in Delhi’s Malviya Nagar on Wednesday, June 3, 2026. The Bangladesh High Commission in Delhi confirmed the injuries, stating that three of the victims are being treated at Max Hospital in Saket and two at Safdarjung Hospital. The mission said it is maintaining regular contact with Indian authorities and monitoring the victims’ condition closely.
According to Indian media reports, the fire started around 8:50 a.m. in a restaurant located in the hotel’s basement before spreading rapidly through the five-story building and reaching the nearby ‘Mikasa Inn’ hotel. At least 21 people were killed and about 40 others injured, including several foreign nationals. Many guests were asleep when the fire began, forcing some to jump from the building to escape.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the hotel was operating more rooms than permitted and had only one entry and exit point, complicating rescue efforts. Authorities are examining whether fire safety regulations were properly followed. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta expressed condolences and announced financial assistance for victims.
