BNP central leader Anindya Islam Amit and 390 other BNP activists from Jashore have been acquitted in two sabotage cases. The first stemmed from a 2014 protest against then-minister Abdul Latif Siddique for making offensive comments about the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Eight BNP leaders, including Advocate Syed Sabu, were arrested during the protest. A separate case was filed in Jhikargachha in 2013. Verdicts for both cases have now cleared the accused of all charges.
