A 75-year-old man, Saleh Ahmed, was allegedly beaten to death following a dispute over cutting taro leaves in Joynagar village of Mohamaya Union, Chhagalnaiya upazila, Feni. The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon at the home of Bokkor Driver. Relatives said Ahmed died while being taken to hospital after sustaining serious injuries.

According to the family, Ahmed was clearing jungle behind his home after Asr prayers when he accidentally cut two leaves from taro plants belonging to Dulal, who lived in the same house. An argument followed, and relatives alleged that Dulal struck Ahmed with a bucket. Relative Ripon said Ahmed and Dulal had been involved in a long-running dispute over land.

Police recovered the body at night and took it to Chhagalnaiya police station. The body was expected to be sent to Feni 250-bed Modern Sadar Hospital for an autopsy on Sunday morning. Family members said they would file a case after Ahmed's son Omar Faruk, who lives in Saudi Arabia, returns home. Duty officer ASI Altaf Hossain said the case process was under way. Dulal could not be reached for comment.
