A Dhaka court has acquitted BNP Joint Secretary General Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie in a corruption case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). The judge ruled that the prosecution failed to prove the charges beyond reasonable doubt. The case alleged he concealed wealth worth BDT 1.3 million and amassed illegal assets of BDT 14 million. Filed in 2014, the trial began in 2016 and included testimony from nine out of twelve witnesses. After years of proceedings, the court declared him not guilty.
