Student Dal leader Monowarul Hossain Bokshi, 29, died after falling from the roof of a five-storey building during a police operation in Savar, Dhaka. The incident occurred around midnight on Thursday at a building in the BPATC Staff Quarters area, according to a report published on August 7, 2026. A case has been filed at Savar Model Police Station.

His father, Jafar Ali, alleged that police were searching the fourth floor for Monowarul’s nephew, Shahriar Kabir Soumik. He said a police officer ran to the roof and, shortly afterward, the family heard a loud sound from below. Police and household members then found Monowarul lying motionless on the ground. Neighbours helped take him to Enam Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Savar Model Police Station officer-in-charge Saiful Islam said Shahriar and Monowarul were accused in a case over the abduction of a 15-year-old girl in Pirgachha, Rangpur. Police said he jumped from the roof while officers sought to arrest the accused. Jafar Ali demanded a fair investigation and justice, while Student Dal leaders called for action against those involved.
