Police headquarters issued an alert after bomb scares and suspicious objects were reported in Dhaka and elsewhere in the country, including concern over possible attacks on police vehicles. However, Dhaka Metropolitan Police Additional Commissioner for Detective Branch Md Shafiqul Islam said the notice was not based on specific intelligence. Speaking at a press conference at the DMP Media Centre on Minto Road in the capital on Sunday, he described it as a routine security reminder for police personnel.

Shafiqul Islam said police must protect both public life and property and their own security. He cited recent bomb-related incidents and the spread of false rumours as reasons for heightened vigilance. He said similar directions had previously been issued to safeguard police vehicles and installations, and the latest message again asked officers, particularly those working in the field, to remain more alert.

He said there was no specific intelligence about an attack on law enforcement agencies. The Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime unit is investigating the bomb recovery in Motijheel, while the DB is conducting a parallel inquiry. Police are trying to identify and arrest those involved, but he declined to provide further details because the investigation is ongoing. He said such acts may be carried out to advance a mandate or ideology.
