Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has expressed deep concern and strong condemnation over the brutal killing of a schoolgirl in Dhaka’s Rayerbazar area. In a statement issued to the media on Thursday, the party’s Assistant Secretary General and head of the central publicity and media department, Advocate Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair, urged law enforcement agencies to arrest the real perpetrator immediately and ensure exemplary punishment through a speedy trial.

According to the statement, on the night of February 25, Shahriar Sharmin Binti, an eighth-grade student, was hacked to death in front of her home in Rayerbazar. The party described the incident as a reflection of the deteriorating law and order situation and growing insecurity in society. It extended condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the victim’s soul.

Jamaat-e-Islami emphasized that ensuring the safety of students and women is a constitutional duty of the state. The statement warned that failure to fulfill this responsibility could lead to chaos and further deterioration of law and order, urging the government to take strict and effective measures to prevent such tragedies in the future.
