A fatal road accident occurred in Gurudaspur upazila of Natore on Tuesday night, July 21, 2026, when a passenger bus from Dhaka to Ishwardi’s Rooppur collided head-on with a Dhaka-bound goods-laden truck on the Bonpara-Hatikumrul highway at Talbaria area. The truck’s helper, identified as Imon, 22, from Kholabaria in Natore Sadar, died on the spot. At least twelve people, including eight Russian nationals—four of them women—were injured and taken to Gurudaspur Upazila Health Complex. Several critically injured victims were being prepared for transfer to other hospitals for advanced treatment.

Fire service teams from Gurudaspur and Bonpara, led by Sub-Officer Rustam Ali, quickly reached the scene, rescued the injured, and cleared the damaged vehicles. The collision caused a long traffic jam on both sides of the highway, which was partially cleared after about two hours. Gurudaspur’s Upazila Nirbahi Officer Fahmida Afroze and Assistant Commissioner (Land) Asadul Islam visited the hospital to ensure proper medical care for the injured.

According to Bonpara Highway Police Officer-in-Charge Moniruzzaman, the rescue operation concluded around 11 p.m., and an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident.
