Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) said it thwarted an attempt to push four people into Bangladesh through the Maheshpur border in Jhenaidah. The attempt occurred around 1:10pm on Saturday in the Kusumpur Chapatala Mazar area of Maheshpur upazila, according to BGB. Members stopped the group before they entered Bangladesh.

BGB said the four people—two men, one woman and one child—were allegedly being pushed in from the BSF battalion's Mahendra camp. After being stopped, they moved to a banana plantation about 150 yards inside India from the border's zero line.

BGB said it had informed the Border Security Force about the matter. The information was released in a press statement signed by Assistant Director Munshi Emdadur Rahman on Saturday. The statement did not identify the four people or provide details about their nationality or subsequent status.
