Jagannath University (Jabi) authorities have summoned Md. Zahid Hasan, an executive member of the Jagannath University Central Students’ Union (JAKSU), to the proctor’s office after he criticized the administration on Facebook. The notice, signed by Proctor Professor Dr. Mohammad Nasir Uddin on July 13, 2026, was sent to the chair of the English Department, instructing Zahid to appear at 10 a.m. on July 14. The letter stated that Zahid had made defamatory remarks about the university administration and the vice-chancellor and had not responded to multiple phone calls.

In his earlier Facebook post, Zahid criticized the university for continuing academic activities despite heavy rain and waterlogging in Dhaka. He claimed that JAKSU leaders had requested the administration to shift classes and exams online, but no decision was made. Zahid also alleged that the vice-chancellor did not respond to calls from JAKSU leaders and expressed frustration over the administration’s inaction while other universities declared holidays.

Proctor Nasir Uddin said the post itself contained the remarks considered defamatory and that Zahid would be heard before any administrative action is decided.
