At least five Palestinians were killed and 18 injured in Israeli attacks across the besieged Gaza Strip over the past 48 hours, Gaza’s Health Ministry said. The report, published on August 17, 2026, said Israeli military action was continuing during the ceasefire.

According to a ministry statement, at least 1,265 people have been killed and 4,198 injured in Israeli attacks in Gaza since a US-mediated ceasefire took effect in October last year. The figures were reported by Al Jazeera.

The ministry said that since October 2023, Israel’s continuing genocide in Gaza has killed at least 73,399 Palestinians and injured 174,310 others. It added that a large number of women and children are among those killed and wounded.
