The Election Inquiry and Judicial Committee has issued a show-cause notice to BNP alliance candidate Nurul Haque Nur for alleged violations of the electoral code of conduct in the Patuakhali-3 (Dashmina–Galachipa) constituency. The order was issued by Civil Judge Sabbir Md Khalid based on a complaint filed by Advocate Enamul Haque with the Dashmina Upazila Assistant Returning Officer. The complaint accuses Nur of spreading false and misleading information on social media about independent candidate Hasan Mamun and of his supporters attacking Mamun’s campaign office on January 26, injuring several workers.

The committee directed Nur to appear in person or through a representative before the temporary office of the 13th National Parliamentary Election Inquiry and Judicial Committee in Dashmina on February 3 to submit a written explanation before further legal action is taken or the matter is referred to the Election Commission.

In response, Nur, who is also the president of Gana Adhikar Parishad and a former DUCSU vice president, told Amader Desh that he has not yet received any official legal notice but will appear and respond within the stipulated time once he does.
