One Cigarette Sparks Wildfire That Burns 10,000 Acres in Greece

Just a single cigarette led to a fire that raged for three days on the Greek island of Chios, reducing 10,000 acres of land to ashes. The wildfire, which began on Sunday, devoured forests, pastures, and vital biodiversity across a vast area. Although the fire was brought under control by Wednesday, hundreds of firefighters remain deployed across the region to prevent reignition. A Georgian woman was arrested on Tuesday night on suspicion of starting the blaze.
