A local leader of the Krishak Dal was killed and another injured in an attack by unidentified assailants in Bagerhat district on Tuesday night. The incident occurred at Niyotir Mor area of Fakirhat upazila, where Baroipara Union Krishak Dal president Badol Morol was fatally stabbed and hacked. Abdullah Morol, president of Ward No. 1 BNP unit of the same union, sustained serious injuries and was taken to Khulna Medical College Hospital.
Police said the victims were traveling by motorcycle from Baroipara to Fakirhat when two motorcycles carrying the attackers intercepted them and launched the assault. Badol Morol was declared dead at Fakirhat Upazila Health Complex, and his body remains under police custody at the hospital. Law enforcement officers are present at the scene and have begun an investigation.
Authorities have yet to determine the motive behind the attack, and further details were not immediately available as the investigation continues.
