Interim government has designated August 5 as the "July Uprising Day" and August 8 as "New Bangladesh Day" following the fall of the Awami League government. In response, NCP leader Hasnat Abdullah wrote, "New Bangladesh was born on August 5, not August 8. The government’s attempt to monopolize the people's achievement will not be tolerated."
