Flood in Pakistan: No One Left to Bury the Dead in One Village
Pakistan’s northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been devastated by sudden floods and landslides. According to official figures, over the past 48 hours, rainfall and flooding across various districts of the province have claimed more than 340 lives. The district of Buner has suffered the heaviest losses. In the village of Beshantri in Buner’s Pir Baba Sahib tehsil, a horrifying scene has emerged: there were no people left in the village to conduct funerals or burials. Assistance had to come from residents of neighboring villages.
