Continuous heavy rainfall has caused a section of the Joyrampur-Kumaridah road in Howli Union of Damurhuda upazila, Chuadanga, to collapse, severely disrupting direct road communication between the two villages. The incident occurred after soil beneath the road near Joyrampur Kathaltala Jame Mosque washed away late Thursday night, leading to a 15-foot section of the road caving in. Thousands of residents, including students, farmers, and traders, are now forced to use longer alternative routes.

Local residents reported that the collapse has increased travel time and costs, while business activities have been negatively affected. They warned that without urgent repairs, the situation could worsen and pose safety risks. Acting chairman of Howli Union Parishad, Nizam Uddin, said the authorities are aware of the issue and have initiated steps to inspect the site and coordinate with relevant departments for quick repairs.

Villagers alleged that the road faces erosion risks every monsoon but no permanent preventive measures have been taken. They demanded immediate repair and sustainable protection to prevent further damage during the ongoing rainy season.
