NBR Chairman urges action on non-filers to boost tax collection

Md. Abdur Rahman Khan, Chairman of the National Board of Revenue (NBR), emphasized the need to focus on taxpayers who do not file returns despite having TINs. Speaking at the income tax revenue review meeting, he instructed officials to increase outstanding tax collection and ensure all income tax documents are transferred promptly for hassle-free service. He also called for fully digital, transparent audit selection and prioritized efforts to collect taxes from over one crore taxpayers who evade filing or payment, aiming to build a fairer society.

Work must be done regarding those who do not file returns: NBR Chairman

He made the remark on Monday at the revenue review meeting for July of the Income Tax Department, held in the conference room of the National Board of Revenue.
