Hilsa Landing Center to be Built at Chandpur Fish Wharf

Chandpur, known as the “Hilsa Branding District,” has long lacked a modern fish landing facility for preserving or exporting hilsa. In 2017, during the Deputy Commissioners’ Conference, the then DC of Chandpur proposed setting up a modern fish landing center and cold storage. However, the project stalled as the proposed site was owned by Bangladesh Railway. Now, eight years later, the plan is finally moving forward. A hilsa landing center is being established at Chandpur’s Boro Station Fish Wharf, with the Bangladesh Fisheries Development Corporation (BFDC) already starting work on the project.
