Professor Muhammad Yunus, Chief Adviser of Bangladesh’s interim government, will be the next chairman of BIMSTEC. The announcement was made by his special envoy, Dr. Khalilur Rahman, at a press briefing in Dhaka. Yunus will attend the 6th BIMSTEC Summit in Bangkok on April 3, where he may meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He will participate in a youth conference, deliver a speech, and hold meetings with various leaders. The summit will see the signing of three agreements and MoUs.

Professor Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Adviser of Bangladesh’s interim government, has been appointed as the next chairman of BIMSTEC. This announcement was made by Dr. Khalilur Rahman, the Chief Adviser’s Special Envoy, at a press briefing held at the Foreign Service Academy on Bailey Road in the capital on Wednesday. To attend the 6th BIMSTEC Summit, the Chief Adviser will travel to Bangkok, Thailand, on Thursday (April 3). Dr. Khalilur Rahman mentioned that a meeting between Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi might take place during the summit. He further stated, “Since the Chief Adviser is the next chairman of BIMSTEC, discussions with the heads of all member states on future initiatives are necessary.”
