Korean Air to Buy 103 Boeing Jets Under Trump’s Pressure
Korean Air has agreed to purchase 103 Boeing aircraft as part of U.S. President Donald Trump’s push for more international business with American companies.
Korean Air has signed a $36 billion agreement with Boeing to purchase 103 aircraft, including 737, 777, and 787 models. The deal was announced shortly after South Korean President Lee Jae-myung met U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington, where tariffs were discussed. Boeing says the order will help sustain 135,000 U.S. jobs. Korean Air’s CEO Walter Cho said the new jets will modernize the fleet and strengthen competitiveness as the airline merges with Asiana. Hyundai also pledged $26 billion U.S. investment.
